Guitar Project


Description:
Each student will create and design a guitar using crayons and markers. Then will cut out the guitar and glue to a piece of construction paper and attach yarn for the guitar strings.

Time:
1 class period (50 minutes)

Objective:  
Teach difference between graphic design elements and realistic drawings
Work on scissor cutting skills
Practice good direction following skills

Materials: 
Pencils
White drawing paper
Construction paper
Crayons and Markers
Straps of yarn
Scissors
Glue
(Card stock guitar templates for younger grades to trace)

Activity:    
1. Students draw guitar shape with pencils on to white paper
(Kindergarten and First Grade can trace card stock templates)
2. Design guitars with pencils before coloring
3. Cut out the guitar shape
4. Glue guitar onto construction paper
5. Cut 5-6 pieces of yarn the same length
6. Glue strings onto the guitar
