Description:
In a lesson designed to introduce cultural influence, students will learn about Australian Aboriginal dot paintings then create their own lizard and decorate it using the dot technique. Aborigines used dots to create implied lines and pictures. 

Time:
2 Class Periods (50 minutes each period)

Objectives:
Describe key characteristics of Aboriginal art
Create a dot painting that emphasizes line
Develop fine motor skills and techniques required for cutting out intricate shapes

Materials:
Green construction paper
Tempera paints
Q-tips
Scissors
Lizard template for tracing
Pencils

Activity:
1. Introduction to Australian Aboriginal art. Show students where Australia is on a globe and brief background of Aboriginal art work showing examples.

2. Introduce project and pass out materials

3. Students will first trace the lizard onto green construction paper then cut the figure out

4. After trash is thrown away student can start using q-tip to paint dots onto the lizard
