Description:
Students will create 3-dimensional abstract art works using construction paper.
Time:
50 Minutes (1 class period)
Objectives:
Learn different between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art
Understand the definition and concept of abstract art
Use materials correctly
Materials:
Construction paper in various colors
Strap pieces of paper in various colors, patterns and textures
Glue
Scissors
Activity:
1. Discuss with students differences between 2-dimensional and 3- dimensional, show examples
2. Discuss the definition of abstract art, show examples of abstract and realism. Have students name the style when shown a photo of each style.
3. Demonstrate how slits at the bottom will fold outward every other way to create "legs" for the form to "stand" on
4. Pass out scissors, construction paper and glue for students to begin their own projects
